IASL Awards

The IASL International Awards Program recognizes excellence in school librarianship, encourages research and development activities, and supports and assists participation in IASL conferences and other association activities.

Support-A-Member applications are received throughout the year.

  • IASL Golden Grant

    To increase active IASL membership in geographically diverse locations, two past IASL Presidents invite Zone B and C school librarians and school library advocates to apply for a 2021 Golden Grant. Applications are now closed.

  • Jean Lowrie Leadership Development Grant

    Leaders in developing nations are invited to apply for reimbursement of US $2,000 to attend their first IASL annual conference. This award will be presented in even years beginning in 2020. The deadline for 2024 applications is 1 April 2024.
  • Ken Haycock Leadership Development Grant

    Leaders in all countries are invited to apply for reimbursement of US $2,000 to attend their first IASL annual conference. This award will be presented in odd years beginning in 2021.
    The deadline for 2025 applications is 1 April 2025.  No award will be given in 2024.
  • Diljit Singh Leadership Development Grant

    Rising leaders in developing nations are invited to apply for reimbursement of US $1,000 to attend their first IASL annual conference. The deadline for 2024 applications is 1 April 2024.
  • Takeshi Murofushi Research Award

    The recipient of this grant is awarded US $500 towards funding of a new research project.  The 2024 deadline is 1 April 2024.

  • IASL Books for Children Award

    This award of US $1000 provides books for children through school libraries in developing countries.  The 2024 deadline is 1 April 2024. 
  • IASL Best Conference Paper Award 

    One Award per conference - the L. Anne Clyde Memorial Research Award for the best paper making a research and/or theoretical contribution to the field of school librarianship OR the Margot Nilson Memorial Award in Literature for Young People for a paper making a historical, analytical, and/or practice contribution to the field of literature for young people. 

  • Support-A-Member Program

    Grants two-year IASL membership to awarded members in Zone C countries.
