Little Acts, Big Impact — Let's Put Kindness on the Map!

Every Kindness Tells a Story. Every Story Can Inspire the World.

A Global Initiative in Collaboration with the Global Kindness Map, an Initiative of International Kindness Reset

A Message from the ISLM Chairperson

Kindness is a universal language that transcends borders, cultures and generations. Through this collaboration with the Global Kindness Map, ISLM invites school libraries, educators and young people worldwide to recognise everyday acts of kindness, transform compassion into meaningful action, and share stories that inspire others. Together, let us nurture empathetic readers, responsible global citizens and a generation that believes even the smallest act can make a difference. Every act of kindness matters. Every story deserves to be heard. Let us put kindness on the map!

About the Initiative

What if every act of kindness could inspire another?

International School Library Month (ISLM) is delighted to introduce its collaboration with the Global Kindness Map, an initiative of International Kindness Reset, inviting children and young people around the world to notice kindness, practise it, create it and share it.

The Global Kindness Map celebrates the small and significant moments that make our world more compassionate. Whether it is witnessing someone help a friend, offering support to a classmate, including someone who feels left out, caring for the environment or creating something inspired by kindness, every thoughtful action has the potential to inspire positive change.

Through this collaboration, ISLM encourages school librarians, educators and students to bring kindness into their libraries, classrooms and communities through reading, storytelling, creative expression and meaningful everyday actions.

School libraries are not merely spaces filled with books; they are places where empathy grows, perspectives broaden and young minds discover the power of understanding others. By connecting stories with action, we can empower learners to become compassionate individuals and active contributors to a kinder world.

How Can Your School Participate?

  • Read: Explore books and stories that celebrate empathy, friendship, inclusion and compassion.

  • Notice: Encourage students to recognise acts of kindness in their everyday lives.

  • Practise: Inspire learners to perform thoughtful actions at school, at home and in their communities.

  • Create: Invite students to express kindness through artwork, bookmarks, poems, stories, posters and collaborative projects.

  • Share: Explore the Global Kindness Map and follow its official guidance for sharing kindness experiences.

Kindness can be witnessed, practised or created individually, with friends or classmates, in a group or as a family. Every contribution, however small, can encourage someone else to act with compassion.

Put Your Kindness on the Map!

The Global Kindness Map website is now live! We invite school librarians, teachers, students and families to explore the initiative and help spread the word.

Together, Let's Create a Kinder World

Imagine young people across countries, cultures and languages sharing stories of kindness and discovering how connected we truly are. Through this initiative, ISLM and the Global Kindness Map invite school communities to make kindness visible, celebrate compassionate actions and inspire others to follow their example.

One small act. One powerful story. One kinder world.

Let's inspire others with kindness. Let's connect our communities through compassion. And together, let's put kindness on the map!
