✨ What People Are Doing for ISLM - 2025 Reports

Welcome to our celebration of International School Library Month (ISLM) 2025!

Italy – Celebrating ISLM through Collaboration and Creativity

Our next highlight comes from Italy, where educators from different school levels joined hands to celebrate the spirit of the International School Library Month (ISLM). Their inspiring collaboration reflects how school libraries can become powerful spaces for creativity, learning, inclusion, and community engagement.

The Istituto Comprensivo “Daniela Mauro” in Pessano con Bornago, Milan, Italy, actively participated in ISLM through a meaningful project carried out across the kindergarten, primary, and secondary school levels. The initiative was coordinated by Antonella Alia, who worked together with a dedicated team of educators to promote the values of reading and school libraries among students and teachers.

The project was made possible through the collaboration and enthusiasm of several teachers from different school buildings, including Rossella Pace from the Secondary School; Arianna Gatti and Eleonora Bassani from the Primary School; and Teresa Radesca, colleague of Antonella Alia at the Kindergarten School.

The activity demonstrated the commitment of the entire school community to celebrating ISLM and strengthening the role of the school library as a center for inspiration and creativity. An important aspect of the initiative was the promotion of the IFLA–UNESCO School Library Manifesto 2025 among teachers, particularly through the distribution of the official bookmark connected to the campaign.

This collaborative effort highlighted how school libraries can encourage innovative and stimulating activities while fostering a culture of reading and shared learning experiences. The educators expressed their hope that their contribution to strengthening the school library would be recognized as part of this important international celebration, affirming the value and significance of their continued commitment.
