✨ What People Are Doing for ISLM - 2025 Reports

Welcome to our celebration of International School Library Month (ISLM) 2025!

Zimbabwe – Promoting Functional School Libraries through ISLM

Our next highlight comes from Zimbabwe, where Pretty Chibangwa from Mutare Polytechnic is leading inspiring community engagement efforts to support the development of functional school libraries in Manicaland Province.

Through International School Library Month celebrations organized at the provincial level, the initiative created awareness among school authorities and educational stakeholders about the importance of school libraries in promoting literacy and learning. Reports, speeches, and program proceedings documented the activities, while some of the work was also featured on the ISLM website.

A major achievement of the initiative was the endorsement by the Provincial Education Directorate declaring the last Friday of October as the official day to celebrate ISLM in the province — a significant step in strengthening school library advocacy and community participation in Zimbabwe.
