🤝 STEP 3 — CONFIRMATION AND PARTNER ASSIGNMENT

After registration:

  • ISLM Coordinators will facilitate partner-school assignments.

  • Participating schools should check the relevant pairing information.

  • Schools should verify their partner school's details carefully.

Please do not assume that registration alone confirms a successful exchange.

📧 STEP 4 — CONNECT WITH YOUR PARTNER SCHOOL

Once your partner school has been assigned:

1. Introduce yourself

Email your partner school and introduce:

  • your school;

  • your library;

  • the participating teacher/librarian;

  • the student group; and

  • your plans for the exchange.

2. Confirm participation

Please ensure that your partner school is ready and willing to participate before students begin preparing the bookmarks.

3. Agree on a timeline

Partner schools should mutually agree on a practical exchange date.

The preferred period is October–November 2026, unless the partner schools mutually agree on another feasible date because of:

  • postal delays;

  • school holidays;

  • local events;

  • examinations;

  • national holidays; or

  • other practical circumstances.

4. Maintain communication

Please keep your partner informed if there is any significant change to your plans.

⚠️ COMMITMENT MATTERS

The Bookmark Exchange is based on mutual trust and responsibility.

In previous exchanges, there have occasionally been situations in which a partner school did not complete the exchange, leaving students disappointed after investing time and effort in preparing bookmarks.

For this reason:

Please confirm your partnership before beginning the exchange and honour the commitment you make to your partner school.

Every bookmark represents a student's time, creativity, and expectation of receiving something in return.

✏️ STEP 5 — PREPARE, EXCHANGE AND DOCUMENT

Once participation has been confirmed:

  1. Create the bookmarks.

  2. Prepare them carefully for your partner school.

  3. Include any agreed cultural or reading messages.

  4. Package and post the bookmarks according to the agreed timeline.

  5. Keep your partner school informed where appropriate.

  6. Document the experience.

  7. Share your ISLM story with us where invited.

📮 POSTAL AND CUSTOMS CONSIDERATIONS

International postal arrangements vary from country to country.

Participating schools should:

  • check their local postal requirements;

  • use the correct postal address supplied by the partner;

  • allow sufficient time for international delivery;

  • consider possible postal delays; and

  • check whether customs documentation or charges may apply.

ISLM and IASL are not responsible for shipping, postage, customs, duties, or other expenses associated with sending or receiving bookmarks.

Schools should consider these possible costs before registering.

✏️ CORRECTIONS AND DATA ISSUES

If you make an error while completing the registration form or notice an issue after submission, please do not submit multiple registrations unnecessarily.

Step 1 — Check the Registration Information

Locate your school's entry in the relevant registration/pairing sheet and note your Line Number.

Step 2 — Contact the Appropriate Coordinator

If you entered incorrect information, provide:

  • your Line Number;

  • the information that is incorrect; and

  • the correct information.

If the issue concerns a partner assignment, provide:

  • your Line Number;

  • your Partner School's Line Number; and

  • a clear description of the issue.

Step 3 — Allow the Coordinator to Assist

The relevant ISLM Coordinator will review the matter and assist with the correction or resolution.

Please always include the relevant Line Number(s) in your email subject and/or message.
