The International School Library Month (ISLM) community has spoken — and we have heard you.

Over the past few weeks, we have received an overwhelming number of emails and messages from students, schools, teachers and school library communities asking one question:

“When will ISLM 2026 begin?”

We are delighted to announce that the wait is almost over.

ISLM 2026 Projects will open for registration within the next 10 days.

And today, we are pleased to reveal the theme that will bring this year’s global celebration together:

LIBRARIES, LITERACY AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

At a time when technology is transforming how we learn, create and share knowledge, ISLM 2026 invites students aged 3–22 years to explore the continuing power of libraries, the joy of reading, the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence, and the importance of imagination and human connection.

🌎 ISLM 2026 will once again bring students and school libraries together across borders, cultures and communities — united by books, literacy, creativity and the shared belief that libraries can change lives.
