Treasure Box of Native Folktales & Fairytales Contribution 2026

A Global Celebration of Stories, Cultures, Heritage, and Imagination

About the Project

Every culture has stories that have survived because people considered them worth remembering and retelling.

The Treasure Box of Native Folktales & Fairytales Contribution Project 2026 invites people from around the world to contribute folktales, fairytales, legends, fables, and other culturally significant traditional narratives.

The project seeks to create a diverse collection of stories that reflects the richness of global cultural heritage and the enduring role of storytelling in connecting generations.

Stories may feature:

  • Traditional heroes and heroines

  • Myths and legends

  • Folktales and fairytales

  • Fables and traditional narratives

  • Mythical or supernatural beings

  • Stories associated with particular communities or regions

  • Tales passed down through families

  • Local stories that form part of a community's cultural heritage

Selected contributions may be featured through the official IASL and ISLM platforms, providing an opportunity for these stories to reach an international audience of educators, librarians, students, families, and fellow storytellers.
