India is our country. India is located in Asia .Delhi is the capital of India .India is famous for its culture and the wall in Kumbhal fort which is the second big wall in the world .It is also famous for its heritage. India holy book is BHAGVAT GITA. The Indian flag has three horizontal bands of color :saffron for courage and sacrifice, white for truth and peace, and green for faith,fertility,and chivalry .An emblem of a wheel spinning used to bein the center of the white band,but when India gained independence,A Buddhist dharma chakra,or wheel. Every major world religion is represented in India. Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism all originated in India. One of the customs followed is that the Indian wives never say their husbands name aloud,as it is a sign disrespect . When addressing him, the wife will use several indirect referenced such as ''ji'' or ''look here'' or ''hello'',or even refer to him as the father of her child.

A widow is considered bad luck-otherwise her husband wouldn't have died . Elderly widow ''the one who ate her husband ''.In some orthodox families widowers are not allowed near newlywed at social gathering.
 
The Himalayas – from the Sanskrit word” hima”, meaning ''show'' , and “alaya” meaning ''abode''- are found  in the north of India , they extend 1,500 miles and are slowly growing taller, by almost an inch(2.5 cm) a year . Several ancient 255 Indian monasteries  are found nested in the grandeur of these mountains.

India is the world's largest producer of dried beans , such as kidney beans and chickpeas. It also leads in banana exports We  as citizens of India are proud of our  country . We love are motherland.We live in the pilgrim city Nashik situated on the banks of river Godavari. It is in the state of Maharastra. There is a lot of Maratha population in Nashik. There are many traditional temples in Nashik. The Pandavleni caves are one of the oldest caves near the garden at “Phalake  Smarak”.Sita Gupha, Kalaram temple, Trimbakeshwar, Muktidham and Vani are some of the tourist attractions.

India comprises of 26 states and Maharashtra is one of them. Maharashtra has 35 cities , out of which Nashik is one of the holy cities.
   
Nashik is famous for its grapes and onions. There are so many things to watch in Vani, Trimbakeshwar, Buddha Vihar.Lord Rama, of exile. At the same place Lord Laxman by the blessings of Lord Rama cut of the nose of Surpanaka and thus this place was named as “Nashik” (from Sanskrit word Nashika).This pilgrimage city is also famous for its vineyards. A lot of Grapes are exported to other countries of the world.

The Nashik's first road railway station was formed in 1862. Nashik's municipality was formed in 1864. Nashik district was formed in 1869. Nashik in 150 BC was believed to be the country's largest market place. On December 21,1909  17-year-old Anant Kanhere shot the then collector of Nashik named Jackson's at the Vijayanand where he had gone to see the play Sharada. Jackson died then and there.

In 1930, the Nashik Satyagraha was launched under the leader ship of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar for the entry of Dalits in Kalaram temple. This movement was meant to abolish untouchability in Nashik.The people involved in this movement,were Anant Laxman Kanhere Krishnaji Gopal Karve and Vinayak Ramchandra Deshpande. They were letter sentenced to death by hanging. Nashik participated in the freedom struggle of India. There is a Currency note press and  Indian security press on October 13,1955, The Government 
of India inaugurated a press at Nashik for printing Government stationary.

Every 12 years Kumbmela is held in Nashik. Near Nashik there is HAL HINDUSTAN Aeronautics Limited where jet planes are made. Rasbihari International School is the first  authorized  IB school in  Nashik.

One day a lady went to a nursing home and was admitted. After some time a nurse came and informed that she gave birth to twins. She said with surprise,' How is it possible''? I have only one husband.

Patient: How much for a heart operation?
Doctor: One lakh rupees in advance.
Patient: Why in advance?
Doctor: I think,I may not succeed.

Patient & Doctor
Patient:I have a pain in my left hand.
Doctor: There is nothing to worry It's just because of old age.
Patient: But Doctor,Both the hands are of the same age.

Wife & Husband
Wife – What advantage did Ravana have  owing to 10  heads.
Husband – He didn't needed chorus to sing.

History teacher : From where to where did the Mughals rule ?
Student : Sir, I am not sure but I think from page 14 to 46.

Papu & Sonu
Papu : What is the name of your ear ?
Sonu : I forgot the name, but it starts with T.
Papu : Oye Kammal ki gadi, Tea se start hoti hai.

Women & Passer-by
Women : Can you tell how I go the hospital please .
Passer-by : That’s easy . Just stand in the middle of the road.

Grade 5 - Write up

India is the 7th largest country in the world. India is well-know for its culture and religious diversity. India is also famous for historic monuments as Taj Mahal, Delhi Darwaja, Golden temple, Mysore Palace and the Royal gardens etc.  India has a democratic form of government. Many freedom fighters and revolutionaries as Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bhadur Shastri, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Jawaharlal Nehru  contributed for the Indian freedom struggle.  
          
Nashik is one of the holiest Hindu city of Maharashtra. Today Nashik is recognized as a wine city, as well as  a  pilgrimage city. It is surrounded by the Sahyadri ranges and has a pleasant climate. Sacred rivers like Godavari and BanGanga flow through our city. Holy places like Trimbakeshwar, Wani, Tapovan, Muktidham etc makes this place a pilgrimage city. Nashik has approximately 80 % of Hindus and 20% of other community people as Muslim,Parsi, Jain and many more.

Our Rasbihari International School provides us extra curriculum activities (ECA) and PYP learning. Our school was established in 1994. We have a diverse and stimulating environment based on trust and respect. We are the first international school in Nashik implementing the IB- PYP program and  IGCSE curriculum  for secondary section .

We are students of  class  6th  . We are total 24 students in our class. The walls of our classroom are covered with lovely charts. We have a library in our classroom. We make essential agreements as a team when we begin our academic year. We write down our questions on the Inquiry Chart and research to find out answers to these questions. We learn and enjoy working as a team in our classroom.
