Our Country

Iceland

The capital of Iceland is called Reykjavík.

Vatnajökull, 8.100 km2, is the largest glacier in Iceland and in Europe outside the artic zone.

There are a lot of volcanos, in the last 50 year have been 24 eruptions and the last that occurred was in 2010, in Eyjafjallajökull glacier.

Did you know that Iceland is the largest island on the Atlantic Ocean ridge?

Iceland is 103.485 km2 in size, much larger than many people think.

There are 364.185 people living in Iceland according to the numbers in January 2020.


Our City

Reykjavík

Reykjavík was founded in 1786 as a town with 337 residents.

Almost 131.000 people live in Reykjavík in the beginning of the year 2020 and the mayor is Dagur B. Eggertsson.

There are 36 elementary schools in Reykjavík.


Our School

Háteigsskóli

The school was established in 1968.

There are over 440 students in 21 classes in the school.

There are 42 teachers and 27 employees.

Special words in the school are respect, wellness and teamwork.
