Getting Ready for The GiggleIT Project

Before you begin the GiggleIT Project in your school or community, you need to do a number of things.

The big sell
Firstly, you need to discuss the Project with your Principal and Head of English Department. You need to take copies of all documentation and information about the project and IASL with you to this initial meeting. Write a one-page summary about the project to leave with both parties. Here is an example [PDF file].

Once you have approval and signoff to conduct the Project you will need to organise some professional development for the teacher/s who will be working with you. Make this a social event with tea/coffee and biscuits (working with the teacher librarian should always be seen as a pleasant experience).

Give the teachers a copy of the one-page handout, plus a short hands-on tutorial to get them engaged. Here is an example [PDF file].

Points that require extra explanation may include:

  copyright [ Copyright PDF version | Copyright Word document] and creative commons;

 Internet safety – dos and don’ts;

 using the drafting/publishing process; [Publish PDF version | Publish Word document]

 assessment portfolios (See Teacher Program) , and

 TL Role & Teacher Role.

Use the Resources provided to get your Project started.
