GiggleIT Project

To navigate the teacher part of the GiggleIT website:

* first, click on the For Teachers link on the side menu bar; then
* use the back button or top menu bar under the GiggeIT banner to navigate through this section

What to do first?

Use this tutorial as a guide while you explore the GiggleIT website. The side menu bar is available on every page, so it is relatively easy to find your way around. You can also contact the GiggleIT team at any time using the contact link on the side menu bar - we'd love to hear from you.

Section 1 - Invitation

Here you will find information about the GiggleIT Project and links to:

  • Student learning outcomes (use the back button to navigate)
  • The Children's and Young Adult Literature Special Interest Group (located on the IASL ning. If you would like to join the ning community, it is free - all you have to do is join)
  • The International Association of School Librarianship (IASL)

Go to the menu at the top of the page and select:

Section 2 - Getting ready

This section contains information and links:

  • to publicise the Project and the importance of getting support from your Principal and teaching staff
  • a sample summary document to use
  • copyright and creative commons information associated with the project
  • Internet Safety
  • information for teachers and older students about using the drafting publishing process
  • the teaching program including assessment
  • link to the School Libraries in Action page where all the GiggleIT resources may be accessed
  • a pre-project checklist

Section 3 - Outcomes

This section links to the Student Learning Outcomes page. The Project covers off a range of learning outcomes including:

  • critical literacy and problem-solving, working collaboratively in teams and working independently
  • a range of literacies
  • information literacy
  • using technology
  • Social - culutral
  • Other

These learning outcomes are based on the Western Australian Curriculum Framework, but may be adapted to any curriculum documentation from other systems.
