The 2001 IASL Conference

Auckland, New Zealand, 9-12 July

VIRTUAL CONFERENCE SESSION

Information and Instructions For Participation

During the New Zealand conference, for the first time, IASL will be offering a free virtual conference session for IASL members who are unable to attend the conference in person. This virtual session will consist of Dr Ross Todd's Keynote Paper with discussion taking place on the Association's listserv, IASL-LINK. All IASL members with access to IASL-LINK are welcome to take part. The following information will help you to take advantage of this professional development opportunity.

  1. You do not need to register for this virtual conference session, and participation will be informal.
  2. Read Dr Ross Todd's Keynote Paper, which will be available on this Web site from the beginning of the conference week. Make a note of any questions that you would like to ask, or any comments that you would like to make, in response to the paper. (There is a direct link to the paper below).
  3. Watch IASL-LINK for a message from the conference organisers and the virtual session Chairperson that will oepn the discussion. The Chairperson of the virtual session will also be the person who introduces Ross Todd during the real conference session in Auckland.
  4. Send a message to IASL-LINK with your questions for Ross Todd or other participants, or with your comments.
  5. For all virtual conference session messages, use the following subject line:
  6. VIRTUAL CONFERENCE

This is very important, because it will help participants to sort the virtual conference messages from their other email messages.

  7. Ross Todd has agreed to be available during the conference to respond to messages on IASL-LINK from virtual conference participants. In addition, some of the conference delegates in Auckland have also agreed to respond to virtual conference messages.
  8. You may send as many email messages as you like to IASL-LINK for the virtual conference. At the end of the week, there will be a summary of discussion and a closing message.
  9. Messages sent to IASL-LINK as part of the virtual conference may be posted to the Virtual Conference section of the IASL Web site, and may also be displayed at the conference in Auckland to encourage delegates to participate.
