Introduction

The International Book Exhibit is an activity of the IASL Children's and Young Adult Literature Special Interest Group. Each year at the International Association of School Librarianship conference, the Children's and Young Adult Literature Special Interest Group collects and displays books that represent the countries and regions of IASL membership. These books are donated by members and others to give to the host country to share with the children and youth of that community. At the close of the conference the books are distributed to the most appropriate libraries in the host country.

Guidelines

  1. Each delegate to the annual conference of IASL is asked to bring a new children's or young adult book that represents their country, region, or culture.
  2. The conference organising committee of the host country will provide space to display these books during the conference.
  3. At the end of the conference the book exhibit will be given to a school library or education centre in the host country where children and youth will have access to the collection.
  4. The conference organising committee of the host country will select the school or centre, based on articulated need and intended use of the collection. Preference is given to members of the International Association of School Librarianship.
  5. The recipients of the book exhibit collection will make a written acknowledgement to IASL.
