IASL Grand Auction, Silent Auction and Lucky Choice

Grand Auction

What is it? When does it happen?

Delegates are encouraged to bring an item from their own country which is auctioned with great frivolity during the Conference Dinner. Think about bringing something very unique, an item that someone would really like to take back home in their suitcase. Consider weight, shape, travel customs and quarantine information. It would be a shame to bring something that is not acceptable for the Australian customs regulations and for taking this home to your country. See Australian customs and quarantine website.

Silent Auction

What is it? When does it happen?

Delegates are encouraged to bring an item from their own country which is put on display throughout the conference in a special area designated to allow all delegates to view and put an offer on an item of choice. There will be a sheet of paper for each item and you can enter your name and your offer throughout the conference. At certain times each day these items are considered “sold” and the lucky person is announced and added to the information auction board located where the items are on display. Think about bringing something very unique, an item that someone would really like to take back home in their suitcase. Consider weight, shape, travel customs and quarantine information. It would be a shame to bring something that is not acceptable for the Australian customs regulations. See Australian customs and quarantine website

Lucky Choice

Delegates are encouraged to bring an item from their own country which is put on display throughout the conference in a special designated area to allow all delegates to view and donate a small amount, about $2.00 AUD, which allows the lucky delegate to take the item home. These items are available for choice all day. Think about bringing something very unique, an item that someone would really like to take back home in their suitcase. Consider weight, shape, travel customs and quarantine information. It would be a shame to bring something that is not acceptable for the Australian customs regulations and or taking this home to your country. See Australian customs and quarantine website.

Where does the donated money go?

All money donated is allocated to the IASL Books for Children Grant. Bring your item with you to the registration desk when you arrive at the Brisbane Convention Centre in Brisbane, Queensland Australia. There will be an appointed person at the registration desk who will collect the items. All items will be exhibited for all to see well in advance of the auction events.

In case you can't attend the conference but you want to help the IASL auction, please ship your item(s) to:

IASL
PO Box 83
Zillmere QLD 4034
Australia

If you have any questions, please contact Patricia Carmichael.
