IASL/SOFTLINK 25th ANNIVERSARY RESEARCH GRANT

International Association of School Librarianship (IASL)

The International Association of School Librarianship and SOFTLINK International(through John Dunne, Softlink's Executive Director from Australia) offered a special research grant on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the International Association of School Librarianship. The grant of USD$1500 was to be awarded at the IASL Conference in Jamaica in July 1996.

The purpose of the IASL/SOFTLINK 25th Anniversary Research Grant was to support an innovative research project in the field of school librarianship.

The following announcement, printed in the December 1996 issue of the IASL Newsletter, describes the winning project:

"Researchers Lyn Hay and James Henri of Charles Sturt University (Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia) and Dr Dianne Oberg of the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada) have been grated the IASL/Softlink 25th Anniversary Research Award for their project An Investigation of the Principal's Role in Developing and Supporting an Information Literate School. The award of US$1500 was presented by a representative of Softlink at the 25th Annual IASL Conference in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, in July 1996."
