Objectives:

  1. to discuss emerging trends in education for school librarianship;
  2. to identify and interpret emerging themes and approaches in instructional methods, curriculum, technologies;
  3. to disseminate information on major new national, regional, state, provincial and local documents;
  4. to examine trends and issues related to the provision of distance education for school librarianship;
  5. to examine trends and issues related to the provision of continuing professional development for school librarianship.

Potential activities:

  1. to provide an open forum for discussing all aspects of education for school librarianship, including issues, trends;
  2. to identify, and establish co-operative links with, educational institutions providing courses in school librarianship and educational associations;
  3. to disseminate information on professional development opportunities;
  4. to provide case studies of successful professional development initiatives.
